To begin with, it should read (The) 'Dam', it's Gonna Blow, which is the rough Hip-Hop translation of the Tamil 'Madai Thiranthu'.
The original Ilayaraja/Vairamuthu song from the 80s talks about a young musician breaking out into stardom.
The Vallavan song says pretty much the same thing, with a lot of personal history thrown in.
